September 2018 / EDIT Napoli, Italy
EDIT Napoli: Design in Residence
The Residency program of EDIT Napoli is fully committed to the territory and its heritage. It recognizes and protects the importance of the local traditions.
The program connects international designers with traditional Italian artisans for a full month of collaborative living and making.
Hand in hand they will produce a collection of unique pieces conceived by bridging different knowledge, local with global, past and present, ownership and authorship.
The Residency of EDIT Napoli is proposing a new land of possibilities for the future of historical craftsmanship.
The outcome of their creative journey will be produced under the label Made in EDIT and commercialized and presented at EDIT Napoli.
FABERHAMA with DE NEGRI & ZA.MA, San Leucio
In the city of San Leucio the tradition of silk weaving goes back to King Ferdinando IV of Bourbon and memories of utopian socialism. The family De Negri is part of that heritage and has been producing silk there since 1790.
Faberhama interpreted San Leucio and its silk under a new perspective.

Questioning the way people perceive themselves in relation to their space, Paola Amabile and Alberto Fabbian will display a video work showing a series of charcoal masks as expressions of identities. Masks that can be considered as tools that allow to enter the inner world by projecting ones vision of society and our conception of the space around us.
The charcoal masks represent the result of Faberhama’s workshop Passage in Emona that took place last September 2017 in the City Museum of Ljubljana in the context of the 25th Biennial of Design (BIO25) in Slovenia. The video work is part of "Passage", a wider research under the themes of “transformation and identity” initiated in 2015, which aims to encourage a debate on the existing links among objects, individuals and space.
THURSDAY NIGHT LIVE!
In Het Nieuwe Instituut’s Thursday Night programme thinkers, designers and makers from the Netherlands and abroad discuss urgent issues, innovative research and critical reflection related to architecture, design and digital culture.

Selected as part of the Associated Projects of BIO 25 - Faraway So Close, the Biennial of Design in Ljubljana organized by MAO (Museum of Architecture and Design) and curated by Angela Rui and Maja Vardjan, Faberhama presents a conceptual space in Ljubljana (Emona in the Roman age), where visitors can experience a sense of ritual as an active process.
.."Passage in Emona works to shape a collective space where new meanings are created and visitors' gestures and behaviour become part of the installation.
As mediators between different worlds, black ceramics, smoked brass and wood fired porcelain create a mystical passage leading into another dimension, while charcoal masks designed by visitors reflect traces of shared memories."..
Questioning the way we perceive ourselves in relation to space and objects, our project focuses on the sense of ritual. Passage in Emona is a site-specific installation, an exploration under the theme of "identity" which aims to encourage a conversation on the existing links among individuals and territory in relation to objects and space.
The event is kindly hosted by City Museum of Ljubljana and coincides with Indigo Festival 2017, international programme for contemporary art performance.

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, IN Residence – the cultural project invented and curated by Barbara Brondi & Marco Rainò to encourage and contribute to the contemporary design debate – organizes the group exhibition “TALISMAN - Contemporary Symbolic Objects.”
Installed in the splendid setting of Palazzo Clerici, the show includes 46 talismans created for the occasion by 46 international designers, who have all been actively involved in the IN Residence experience during the course of its ten editions.
Faberhama takes part with Conubium Mundi, an interpretation on the existing relationships between humans and cosmos.

Acrocoro is the collection designed by Faberhama for Atipico: stools, benches, console tables and shelves, in raw or painted ashwood which turns into different uses, creating a natural space.
On show at ATIPICO, the Salone del Mobile, Pad. 10 Stand D01

Nerofumo and PaneVino by Faberhama will be part of the ninth edition of the Triennale Design Museum, curated by Silvana Annicchiarico, which examines Italian design in the light of one its most delicate, most problematic aspects – but also one of the most exciting and appealing, which is that of gender.

&Ability will be on show at the beautiful Venaria Reale in Torino as part of “MADE IN ITALY. Contemporary poetics”, curated by Barbara Brondi & Marco Rainò.
The exhibition investigates art production in Italy between the Middle Ages well into the twentieth century and highlights those turning points in history when artistic and technical excellence and innovation came together to create a unique Italian heritage that was easily recognizable and that was soon exported across Europe.
The exhibition sees the participation of major Italian and European institutions, including Victoria and Albert Museum, the Louvre, the Museum of Textiles and Decorative Arts of Lyon, the Museum of Capodimonte, the National Museum of Bargello, and Castello Sforzesco.
Dual Land - Chapter I represents the collaboration between two maritime territories, the one of the former Zuiderzee region in the Netherlands and the Venice Lagoon, specifically the Murano Island, worldwide famous for its historical tradition of glass blowing. Dual Land draws inspiration from forgotten objects and tools belonging to those areas, in particular the lagoon lantern as the archetype that illuminates the way out of the dark and the sea as liquid area reconnecting cultures and knowledge.
Faberhama has designed a variety of lighting objects which reflect technical and emotional possibilities coming from the merging of traditional glass blowing technique with modern metal 3D printing, thereby experimenting new applications of digital fabrication in crafts through a research approach.
The project has been realised thanks to the Zuiderzee Museum, the Murano glass company NasonMoretti and the Dutch metal 3D printing company Dentinno.

The European Artistic Crafts Days are intended to support the professional creative sector by organizing special events for the general public in all Europe.
On Sunday 3rd April, Faberhama will collaborate with Anush Martirossian (Ground 3D) and Peggy Bannenberg to show Museum’s visitors how crafts, design and digital techniques can be merged to create innovative results.
Visitors will have access to a collection of pictures, drawings and objects which takes inspiration from the Zuiderzee Museum’s maritime geometries. They will have the chance to experience how it is possible to translate a texture into a digital shape and transform it into an object by using the 3D printing technology.
